Waterville Opera House 2025
April 9, 2025By: Kahlie Desrosiers, China Primary School’s Dean of Students
With more than half of our China Primary students saying they had not been to a play, Ms. Pattershall and I knew this was something we wanted to share with our school community. Even with complications of weather and a 2 hour delay, China Primary School took the entire student body to the Waterville Opera House to see Red Riding Hood by Maddy’s Theatre Company! Students were well behaved and the whole group had a wonderful time. Mrs. P and I are thrilled to support the fantastic CPS teachers in bringing these rich educational experiences to all students while they are here with us. #WeAreRSU18 #CPSdragons

Inspiring Author’s Night
March 26, 2025China Primary School families enjoyed an evening event with Maine author, Sarah Thomson, following her day-long workshop with the different grade levels. Sarah introduced families to her many children’s books as well as her own author story through an engaging slideshow presentation. She explained where her story ideas originate from and discussed many tips to support literacy at home such as reading together, book choice, rereading favorite stories, and having conversations with children about the books they are reading. Children and adults had questions for Sarah about her work and her writing ideas. Finally, through Title I funds, students were each able to pick out 3 books and Sarah signed them! Young learners also left with writing tools and composition books for their own writing exploration! It sure was an inspiring author’s night! #WeAreRSU18 #CPSdragons
