A Week of Whimsy Celebrating Read Across America
Students at China Primary School had an incredible week celebrating reading during Read Across America Week. Each day brought a new theme, plenty of laughter, and a shared love of books. For Fox in Socks, students showed off their wildest and wackiest socks. On Green Eggs and Ham day, classrooms were filled with green. Wacky Wednesday brought mismatched outfits and gravity-defying hairstyles, showcasing amazing creativity. For Cat in the Hat, hats were on and smiles were everywhere. And on Oh, The Places You’ll Go day, students dressed as their future selves or wore gear from schools they hoped to attend, reminding everyone that the future is bright. Throughout the week, third grade welcomed special guest readers into the classrooms. Students loved the surprise visitors and the opportunity to hear new voices share favorite books. The school extends a heartfelt thank you to all guest readers for helping inspire a love of reading.
There was also midday fun as Terry and her team created engaging activities during student lunches, bringing smiles and a bit of Seussian magic to the week!
On top of that, students combined literacy and movement in physical education. Children read and played games inspired by Fox in Socks and If I Ran the Circus, making for a creative and active celebration of reading. #WeAreRSU18 #CPSdragons
