Inspiring Author’s Night
China Primary School families enjoyed an evening event with Maine author, Sarah Thomson, following her day-long workshop with the different grade levels. Sarah introduced families to her many children’s books as well as her own author story through an engaging slideshow presentation. She explained where her story ideas originate from and discussed many tips to support literacy at home such as reading together, book choice, rereading favorite stories, and having conversations with children about the books they are reading. Children and adults had questions for Sarah about her work and her writing ideas. Finally, through Title I funds, students were each able to pick out 3 books and Sarah signed them! Young learners also left with writing tools and composition books for their own writing exploration! It sure was an inspiring author’s night! #WeAreRSU18 #CPSdragons
