Meet Liz Pattershall, Principal of CPS
Meet Liz Pattershall, Principal of China Primary School!
What are you most looking forward to about this upcoming school year?
Oh there’s so much to look forward to! Learning all of the students’ names, meeting CPS families, visiting classrooms, and seeing excellence in action (I always learn something new every time I visit a classroom), as well as working with Kahlie and all of the other wonderful CPS staff. 🤗
Tell us about your family!
I have a wonderful and fabulous daughter named Morgan who lives in Connecticut and is a surgical oncology nurse. She will be graduating with her Masters in Nursing Education in December and aspires to become an adjunct professor at her alma mater. I have a younger sister, Sara, who blessed me with my nephew, Owen, and my niece, Ella. I take being the “Cool Auntie” role very seriously and love spending time with them. My fur babies are named Ruby and Peri. My extended family is quite large and we have frequent family gatherings to keep in touch.
Tell us something surprising about yourself!
I live off-grid in my new house. I am a self-taught carpenter and did a majority of the work in my house such as tiling, painting, and ceiling installation.
What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?
Finding my balance. I work a lot and find so much enjoyment in doing so. I love working with staff and families, fostering relationships with students, and engaging with the community CPS serves. At times I find myself not being able to “turn off” work when at home as I am constantly reflecting and thinking about how I can improve for the next school day.
If you weren’t involved in the profession of education, what would we find you doing?
For about 25 years, I have been in the food-service industry in one capacity or another. I really enjoy interacting with people and serving multiple courses of good food and explaining how the dish was prepared and what ingredients were used. I would be doing something in the hospitality industry.
