Meet China Primary School’s Principal, Robert Moody
Meet China Primary School’s principal, Robert Moody!
What was your greatest memory from last school year?
When we had our Monday morning Rise and Shine assemblies, greeting all the staff and students with so much love and kindness in our hearts, and rocking the gym while we listened to YMCA! Also, when the staff and students were chanting “CPS IS THE BEST” at our school wide assemblies and before Mrs. Ridgeway and I turned into Human Sundaes!
What are you most looking forward to about this upcoming school year?
Seeing all the smiling faces returning from summer break. Meeting all our new students and getting to know them as well as our new staff! I can’t wait to hear from the staff and students about their summer break. I am so excited to have the school filled with energy and cheer. I miss you all and cannot wait to start the 23-24 school year!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself! My Grandfather, Raymond Sampson, was part owner of Sampson Supermarkets (with my Great Uncle Richard Sampson) who sold 31 stores in 1966 to Hannaford. One of the reasons he sold the stores was to spend more time with his family. I was born in 1965, so I will take credit for Hannaford expanding their retail presence in the state of Maine!
Tell us about your family!
My wife of 34 years is named Angela and she is a middle school teacher at Hall Dale Middle School. I have two daughters: Renee who is a fourth grade teacher at Hall Dale Elementary School and Kristy who is a co-lead occupational therapist for Gallant Therapy in Oakland. I have an adopted son, Ryan, who works at Hannaford in Southern Maine, a son-in-law, Larry, who is a team leader/direct support professional at Good Will-Hinckley, and a future son-in-law, Aaron, who is a PE teacher at Williams Elementary School! My grandson, Archie, is two years on and lives with Renee and Larry. He will be attending CPS in the near future! My Dad is still with us at 88 years young! He is a retired principal at Monmouth Academy, and he retired 34 years ago when I started my educational career. Last but not least, my best friend and furry buddy, Fenway, has been by my side for 7 years. He is a Border Doodle (Border Collie and Standard Poodle) and is attached to me as a service animal and joins us at CPS a few days a year!
What is something you are thankful for?
I am so thankful for so many things, but at the top of my list is my loving family, friends, colleagues, and students. The most important part of my life has been developing positive, meaningful relationships. I want to collect moments not things! The trust, mutual respect, kindness, honesty, commitment, care, compromise, and unconditional love that is in my life fills my bucket every day in every way! Let’s continue to collect those moments!
