Celebrating Literacy at CPS
CPS had some great events celebrating their love of reading during the month of February! They partnered with the State of Maine in promoting the Read to ME challenge that shines a light on the vital importance of literacy education and the role that reading to children can play in fostering literacy growth. The campaign encourages families to read together and post their pictures on social media. Several staff members and parents posted pictures of reading at home with their children.
Mrs. Babson’s fourth graders also had a “Read-In” in February where students read together and shared some of their own work with the class.
China Middle School’s eighth-graders listened and read to their first-grade reading buddies on Friday afternoons. Mrs. Gosselin’s second graders also pair up with CMS seventh and eighth graders to share their favorite books.
